§ 13.07.120. License—Generally.

  • (a)

    Classifications are as follows: Class A: General contractor, Class B: General contractor limited, Class C: Residential contractor unlimited, Class D: Residential contractor limited, Class E: Roofing contractor unlimited and the classifications that do not require an examination but require registration are as follows: Demolition contractors, siding residential, window/door replacement residential, retaining walls residential, sign contractors, grading contractors, moving contractors.

    (b)

    All licenses shall expire on the first day of the month of July each year and may be renewed thereafter bi-annually upon application of the licensee and payment of the bi-annual fee to city treasurer.

    (c)

    If an expired license is not renewed by July 1st, there will be a late penalty fee as set forth in the prevailing schedule of fees, Chapter 2.08.

    (d)

    Any licensee whose license has expired shall have the right to renew such license, without examination, on or before the following October 1st. Thereafter, no renewal shall be granted without reexamination, except on recommendation of the board based upon good cause shown by such applicant in a written request for such.

    (e)

    New licenses may be prorated on a half-year one year basis.

    (f)

    An identification card shall be furnished a licensee by the city of Council Bluffs at the time of the issuance of such license.

    (g)

    On or before June of each year, the city will send notice to the licensee's last known address informing them that their license is nearing expiration.

    (h)

    All contractors shall be subject to the laws of the state of Iowa and the ordinances of the Municipal Code for the city of Council Bluffs.

    (i)

    Before a license shall be issued under this chapter, the applicant shall pay the annual license fees as set forth in the prevailing schedule of fees, Chapter 2.08.
